As a young adult, Lum had been taken in by Master Y. Y. Ting who taught him Chinese painting as well as antique appraisal skill and helped him set up a world class collection from his tender age. In the past sixty years, he has honed his appraisal skill and has been appointed as a chief consultant in National Art Museum.
